For some reason -- perhaps Palin's recent crashing of the Alfalfa Club dinner to run elbows with the elites she pretends to despise, but lusts to join -- I woke up with her nauseating wink on my mind. <BR/><BR/>I was wondering if I was the only one on the planet to make the connection between that smirk and False Maria's in <I>Metropolis.</I> It's been ages since I've seen the latter and I was surfing for a good image, and wondering if I'd write a post about it.<BR/><BR/>I see you beat me to it, but man how depressing is it that no one else has commented on your post! False Maria's evil bent to whip up the crowd and sow chaos is the perfect parallel.<BR/><BR/>It annoys me that Palin evokes such a visceral reaction, but her obscene demagoguery - and the fact that like the Terminator she just won't go away - keeps her on my mind.
